For the Youth

St. Luke's Youth is open to all 6th - 12th graders.  We meet weekly on Sunday evenings from 6 - 7:30pm downstairs in our youth room, unless we have a special activity planned.  Our schedule includes a mix of faith building programs, fun activities, and mission projects.  We put a high value on creating a caring, open, accepting community where we can be truly ourselves and help each other develop a deeper relationship with God.  Check out some of the activities and events we have going on right now.

Leader's Corner
Every day we have to make decisions.  Some are simple and we barely think about them:  what to wear in the morning, what to eat for lunch, what t.v. show to watch in the evenings.  Some decisions are more difficult and require more deliberation:  what classes to take, who to spend your time with, where to go to college.  For me, the decisions that would affect my future we the hardest for me to make - choose option A and your life will go in one direction, and choose option B and it might be entirely different.  How do I know what is the best?  Without the use of a crystal ball, no one can see the future.

One of my favorite bible verses is Jeremiah 29:11:  "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  God has plans for us!!  I cling to that promise.  And I know that the plans that he has for us and so much more wonderful that anything we could ever imagine for ourselves.  What an exciting prospect!!  As I look back on my life I can see how God has worked out the situations in my life for my good!  He's given me so many wonderful friends, opportunities, and experiences that I never could have imagined when I was young.

I truly believe that God will direct our path, and guide our decisions.  So whenever I have a big decision to make, the first thing I do is pray.  Pray that God will guide me and lead me where he wants me to go.  Then I can relax as I weigh the pros and cons, and trust that He will make sure I make the right decision.

The next time you find yourself agonizing over a decision, try praying!  And see if that makes a difference.
